viori beauty
I know I haven't posted in a while with the lack of inspiration and motivation with traveling but there's a haul that I had to share and write about for chilaxi.
I would like to introduce to you, Viori Beauty, inspired by the fermented rice water, used by the jet black, long haired Red Yao women of a Mien tribe.
I'm so in love! I give mad props to Bryce Fisher and his sister Lynsie Galbraith for founding this company, supporting these people, incorporating them into their design and products. 5% of their profits go back to these women of this Hill Tribe of 300 that are left.
I've always been the biggest advocate of natural beauty products and I feel that Viori Beauty speaks for me and takes me back to my tribal roots with their beautiful product and beautiful minimal packaging.
I can't wait to finish this set and try the other two, Citrus Yao and Hidden Waterfall. I'm currently using Terrace Garden because I love, love bamboo and green florals. The scents takes me back to the lush rainforests, from my travels in Asia.
The shampoo bar suds so easily and because I have colored hair, I leave a little conditioner to stay in my hair and it just feels clean and soft all day. I also made my own fermented rice water as a rinse to use with these because why not!?
I used organic Black Forbidden rice from Lotus Foods because of the high antioxidant content. I bought a 5 gallon water container with a manual pump dispenser just to make fermented rice water for my hair. I used a 15oz bag with 5 gallons. I let it sit for a couple of days and began to see little pieces of rice floating and bubbles as it started to become fermented.
I also came across Jade Pearl rice from Lotus Foods and I cannot wait to try it, eat it and to use it the next time I make fermented rice water. But it's going to be a while lol. Each pump equals a cup and that's 80 cups in my 5 gallon fermented rice water container.
The Red Yao collect the rice water and removes the excess rice. They then boil the rice water along with pomelo skins, let it cool and place in a container, in a dark area to ferment to wash their hair with. Some families have their own recipes they use. I decided to not boil mine because I want it to be in raw form and I can't wait to use the green colored Jade Pearl next time because I love bamboo and its content of silica.
I'm happy to incorporate all of this into my natural daily beauty routine now. My boyfriend and I will both use the shampoo and conditioner bar along with the fermented rice water. He has some scalp issues so we'll see what rice can do for him but the future is bright and I can't wait to go to the Longsheng Rice Terraces someday, where Viori Beauty sources their rice for their beautiful hair care products.
